Head of Aphrodite-Greek (right) vs. Woman by the Sea-Pablo Picasso-1922 (left)
These two pieces of work are similar but they are very different too. They are both women that look like they are Greek or they are Greek. The Woman by the Sea is modern but is looks as if its inspired by the Greeks because of what she is wearing. The face angles are also very similar in both pieces. They are both very different in the way that they were made. The Head of Aphrodite is a very idealized which is the style of the time period. As to were the Woman by the Sea is more realistic . I think that these two pieces of work put in the same room would work well because they have a lot in common with each other but are different so that they would pull from each other.

  1. Nice start, Kayleigh. So, in thinking about how Fred Wilson juxtaposes objects to raise questions of representation and race, can you expand on what you would like to the viewer to experience in the juxtaposition of these works?
