Sande Society Mask-Mende- 19th Century(right) vs. Constructed Head No.2-Naum Gabo- 1916 (left)
The Sande society mask is made of wood and hair. It is African art. The constructed head no.2 is made fully of metal. this pieces of art are the same in the way that they are both views of heads. They are very different in the way that they were made. They are also different in the way that represent the artist life and culture. I think that if these two pieces where put in a room that they would work well with each other because they are the same kind of form a head so they would show how much things change for areas of the world to other areas as well with the different time periods.

  1. Very nice juxtaposition between Gabo's sculpture and the African mask, Kayleigh. The African mask was most likely an object used in some kind of tribal ritual. What are some ideas that we can glean from Gabo's Constructivist work?
