Midway Contemporary Art - The Secret Life of Objects

The piece that I like the most was Tulsa by Larry Clark. The reason that I liked that piece the most was because of the emotion that the pictures had. You could feel everything that he was try to get across in the photos the pain, the need, the love, and the hate. The two pictures above are some photos from Tulsa

The piece that I was confused about was Untitled by Ken Price. The reason that this piece confuses me is because it is clay with paint on it. The piece didn't really look like anything to me and I think that's why I think it confuses me and why I don't really like it.

Head of Aphrodite-Greek (right) vs. Woman by the Sea-Pablo Picasso-1922 (left)
These two pieces of work are similar but they are very different too. They are both women that look like they are Greek or they are Greek. The Woman by the Sea is modern but is looks as if its inspired by the Greeks because of what she is wearing. The face angles are also very similar in both pieces. They are both very different in the way that they were made. The Head of Aphrodite is a very idealized which is the style of the time period. As to were the Woman by the Sea is more realistic . I think that these two pieces of work put in the same room would work well because they have a lot in common with each other but are different so that they would pull from each other.

Sande Society Mask-Mende- 19th Century(right) vs. Constructed Head No.2-Naum Gabo- 1916 (left)
The Sande society mask is made of wood and hair. It is African art. The constructed head no.2 is made fully of metal. this pieces of art are the same in the way that they are both views of heads. They are very different in the way that they were made. They are also different in the way that represent the artist life and culture. I think that if these two pieces where put in a room that they would work well with each other because they are the same kind of form a head so they would show how much things change for areas of the world to other areas as well with the different time periods.

Concordia Univeristy-Saint Paul Faculty Exibition

Its a picture taken at an angle with very natural colors in the background is a building, which is older and stone. Along side the building runs a pipe that is red and green which looks to be form construction. The red an green pipe really pops form the building background as the main point in the photo.
